Greater attention was naturally given to promoting teaching, research, and extension operations in the field of agriculture with the creation of Agricultural Universities in India following the model of Land Grant Colleges in the U.S.A. Our Honorable Vice Chancellor Prof. S. W. Akhtar saw the necessity to found the Integral Institute of Agricultural Science and Technology (IIAST) in order to satisfy the demands of the state of Uttar Pradesh in particular for research and extension in addition to teaching.
